How to Get Into Mayfair Clubs — Door Policy, Guestlists, and What Actually Works

Getting into Mayfair clubs isn't complicated — but it does require some planning. Here's exactly how to make sure you're walking through the door, not standing outside it.

The Truth About Mayfair Doors

Here's the honest version: Mayfair club doors are selective. Not every venue, not every night, but the reputation exists for a reason. The good news is that selectivity is predictable. If you understand what the door is looking for, you can prepare for it.

We deal with Mayfair doors every night. Here's what actually matters.

The Three Things That Matter at the Door

1. Dress Code

This is non-negotiable. The door staff will look at you before you say a word. Smart shoes, well-fitted clothes, no sportswear. Our full dress code guide covers every venue in detail.

The golden rule: overdress. Nobody has ever been turned away for looking too smart.

2. Booking

Having a table reservation or guestlist placement changes everything. It signals to the door that you're expected. Walk up to the door, give your name, and you're in. It's that simple.

  • Table booking: Guaranteed entry, reserved spot, bottle service. Book via WhatsApp.
  • Guestlist: Guaranteed or priority entry without a table. Also bookable through us.
  • Walk-up: Possible at some venues, risky at others. We wouldn't recommend it on a Friday or Saturday at the top venues.

3. Group Composition

Mayfair clubs generally prefer mixed groups — men and women together. A group of six guys with no booking is going to have a harder time than a mixed group of the same size. It's not universal, but it's a pattern.

This is less of a factor if you have a table booked. A booking overrides most other considerations.

Venue-by-Venue: How Hard Is the Door?

Very Selective

  • Tape London — Members club. Invite-only most nights. You need a promoter or a table booking. Walking up rarely works.

Selective but Fair

  • Cirque Le Soir — Selective on weekends. Book a table or guestlist for the best chance.
  • TABU London — Fashion-conscious door. Dress well and you'll be fine.
  • The London Reign — Smart dress code enforced. Bookings get priority.
  • Maddox — Restaurant standard at the door. Dress for dinner.
  • Lio Club London — Dinner reservations are the way in. The club follows the restaurant.

More Accessible

  • Libertine — Firm but fair. Dress smart and you'll get in, especially with a guestlist.
  • Cuckoo Club — One of the more accessible Mayfair clubs. Guestlist recommended on weekends.
  • BEAT London — More relaxed door than most. Music-first venue.
  • Luxx Club London — Accessible with smart dress. Guestlist recommended.
  • Dear Darling — Cocktail bar door — smart dress is enough.
  • Scotch of St James — Elegant crowd but reasonable door.

Different Rules Entirely

  • Ministry of Sound — Ticket-based entry for most events. Buy a ticket, show up, you're in. No dress code drama.

What Time to Arrive

Timing matters:

  • 10:00 — 11:00pm: Doors open. If you're on guestlist, this is ideal. Shorter queues, easier entry.
  • 11:00pm — midnight: The sweet spot. Venues are filling up but you'll still get in smoothly with a booking.
  • After midnight: Guestlist entry gets tighter. Tables are still fine. Walk-ups become significantly harder.
  • After 1:00am: Late arrival is risky for guestlist at the busiest venues. If you're not booked, your chances drop fast.

The Mistakes That Get People Turned Away

  1. Wrong shoes. Trainers at a Mayfair club is the fastest way to stay outside. Even designer ones.
  2. Large male-only groups with no booking. Book a table or guestlist. Don't gamble.
  3. Arriving too late. After 1am on a Saturday without a booking is a gamble at most venues.
  4. Being rude to door staff. They have the power. Be polite. Always.
  5. Being visibly drunk. Every venue will turn away people who are already too far gone. Pace yourself before you arrive.
