What to Do in Mayfair at Night — Beyond the Obvious
Mayfair after dark is a different world. Here's everything worth doing once the sun goes down — from cocktail bars to world-class clubs to late-night dining.
Mayfair After Dark
Mayfair by day is Savile Row tailors and Bond Street shopping. Mayfair by night is a completely different animal. Once the offices close and the shops pull their shutters, the neighbourhood transforms into London's most concentrated nightlife district.
But there's more to Mayfair at night than just nightclubs. Here's the full picture.
Early Evening: Cocktails
Before the clubs open, Mayfair's cocktail bars set the tone. The best move is to start your evening with drinks before transitioning to a club later.
Dear Darling is the standout option. Chandeliers, velvet booths, and a cocktail programme that justifies every penny. It opens at 9pm and transitions into late-night energy as the hours pass. You could make it your whole evening or use it as a launchpad.
For something different, explore the hotel bars along Park Lane and Berkeley Square — some of the best cocktail bars in London are hidden inside Mayfair's five-star hotels.
Dinner That Leads Somewhere
If you want dinner and nightlife in one evening, there are two approaches:
The Integrated Option
Maddox and Lio Club London both offer dinner-to-dance under one roof. At Maddox, you eat Italian upstairs and dance to house music downstairs. At Lio, dinner comes with live performances between courses before the room transforms into a nightclub.
Read our full dinner and clubbing guide for the details.
The Two-Stop Option
Have dinner at any of Mayfair's excellent restaurants (the neighbourhood has some of the highest concentration of quality restaurants in the world), then walk to a club afterwards. Everything in Mayfair is within 10-15 minutes on foot.
The Main Event: Nightclubs
This is what Mayfair is famous for after dark. The clubs here are world-class — exclusive venues, incredible production, and a standard of nightlife that few cities match.

The All-Night Option
Most Mayfair clubs close between 3:00 and 3:30am. If you want to go later, Ministry of Sound in South London runs until 6am on Fridays and Saturdays. It's a 15-minute cab from Mayfair and the experience is worth the trip — multiple rooms, world-class sound, and a crowd that dances until sunrise.
Planning Your Evening
Here's how a great Mayfair night typically flows:
| Time | Activity | |------|----------| | 8:00-9:00pm | Dinner (restaurant or Maddox/Lio) | | 9:00-10:30pm | Cocktails (Dear Darling or hotel bars) | | 10:30-11:00pm | Arrive at club | | 11:00pm-3:00am | Dancing, drinks, bottle service | | 3:00am+ | Late-night food or Ministry of Sound |
What to Wear
This matters. Mayfair enforces dress codes at every venue. Read our complete dress code guide before you go out. The short version: smart shoes, smart clothes, no sportswear. Overdress rather than underdress.
